The Great Britain Philatelic Society was founded in 1955 by a small but enthusiastic group of collectors in order to promote, encourage, and contribute to the advancement of the philately of Great Britain. Since then, it has grown steadily, and now has more than 850 members in the UK and abroad. The Society deals with all aspects of GB philately, and has contributed much to the field; this is certain to continue as new members with fresh ideas join.

The GBPS is the UK’s leading Society for anyone interested in GB philately including stamps, postal history, booklets, postcards and more. It meets monthly in London (dependent on Covid restrictions at the moment) at the Royal Philatelic Society and there are also regional and Zoom meetings.

The GBPS produces a colour Journal, accompanied by a Newsletter, six times each year. Additionally, a number of philatelic publications are sponsored by the Society. Their extensive website provides the latest news and information and resources for collectors such as historical information on postal rates, copies of award-winning exhibits and much more. In addition, consultants are available to help collectors with any queries they might have.
