The PTS has provided further information about the forthcoming “Virtual” event. Visitors will enter via an interactive lobby open 24 hours a day from 1st-3rd October 2020, connecting globally through embedded text, audio and video with Stampex stand holders, PTS Members, auction houses, philatelic societies, postal administrations, museums, experts and social influencers – completely free of charge. We are planning a range of events including 10 Virtual Stampex Talks, Stamps in the Attic, live philatelic chat rooms, Competitor exhibits and a Court of Honour celebrating the world’s leading philatelists.
More information on what is happening during the three days is below. To sign up for the show people can register at stampex.vfairs.com
Stamps in the Attic launched by The Philatelic Traders’ Society welcomes those people with inherited or gifted collections to have them appraised for free at Virtual Stampex.
The Philatelic Traders Society gets calls everyday from people who have found lost collections, inherited pieces or have reignited a lost passion. When you are new to the hobby it is hard to know who to trust and who to connect with in order to understand more about your collection.
This is where the Philatelic Traders Society comes in. They are the professional body representing philatelic businesses. Each of our members has been referenced so you know they can be trusted. It couldn’t be easier to get an appraisal at Virtual Stampex. Simply head to the show, find the Virtual Stamps in the Attic booth and head to any of the dealers listed on the booth to find out more.
Suzanne Rae, Chairman the PTS comments
‘Stamps in the Attic is more than just giving free appraisals it is an initiative that encourages everyone around the world to have a rummage in their garage, have a look in their attic and see if they can find a lost or unloved collection. Bring it to the show and reignite your hobby. Virtual Stampex is a free event and this is a complementary activity which users can come along and take part in.”
Celebrating World Postcard Day
Postcrossing is bringing us a celebration of postcards, launching World Postcard Day at Virtual Stampex on 1st October. They have a brilliant website including the history of the postcard and we’ll be hosting a mega meet up to celebrate the day itself.
The Court of Honour
The Court of Honour will include a wonderful range of philatelic masterpieces from the Musuem of Philately. The Museum of Philately is a digital platform that captures and preserves Grand Prix and Gold Medal winning collectors, collections and rarities, as well as their provenance and pricing data. Accessible free via a web browser, or through a dedicated App (IOS & Android) you can read the biographies of legendary collectors, view their award winning collections, and see in detail rarities of the world at your fingertips.
Stampex Talks: Supported by Spink, the Stampex Talks scheduled will include 10 free Stampex Talks including live Q&A from The Royal Philatelic Society London, Karl Louis and more.
