The publication of The Sub-Office Postmarks of Sheffield has led to a large amount of new information. In the first edition there were 1,836 illustrations: this has risen to 2,009 in the second edition. Also included are many hundreds of new codes, date range extensions and a new office has come to light: Stocksbridge PSO.
This book documents the postmarks applied at all post offices that fell under Sheffield head office, other than Sheffield itself. Specifically excluded are any instructional marks and reference to the colour of inks used. The very nature of a publication such as this is that new discoveries will continue to be made; all new information would be welcomed by the author.
