Multiple Sclerosis is a killer with no known effective medicine available at present.
The future appears to be stem cell treatment. Money however is needed to fund such research. Progress is being made but will it be in time to help my wife and thousands of others?
I am astonished at the number of people and in particular philatelists who have contracted this disease or have a member of their family inflicted.
Rather like cancer we all know someone, a friend or work colleague who is suffering from this disability, so that is why I want your help.
Jeffery Matthews who designed the 2000 & 2010 miniature sheets for Royal Mail has very kindly signed one of each of these sheets. His own mother suffered from this disease so he knows the problems & difficulties it causes and hence adopted this charity at the suggestion of his wife being a supporter ever since.
These are being sold by Stanley Gibbons Auctions in December this year free of all charges as they wish to be associated in helping to eradicate this disease.
Such items as these in any collection are a real gem and like hen’s teeth rather rare.
Can I please ask all collectors to spread the word about the sale to all collectors / philatelists so that we might raise a meaning full sum from the auction. The total proceeds will be used to further research into stem cell treatment.
Rotary International started a World project to eradicate Polio and have succeeded so lets us all do the same for M.S.
