London 2022 Newsletter No. 31: 6 February 2022
Patron to London 2022
Before I start with the detail of this note, I thought I would mention that the exhibition’s patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, reaches a significant milestone today as it is the Platinum Jubilee of her accession to the throne. A remarkable and unprecedented achievement of 70 years as a British monarch. Congratulations!
Travelling between the Exhibition and the City
London 2022 is being held at the Business Design Centre (BDC) in Islington, accessed by Angel tube station. Two other significant venues that visitors may wish to get to are both close together and near the Bank of England: the Royal Philatelic Society London (RPSL) for the RDP Signing Ceremony; and the Guildhall for the London 2022 Awards Ceremony and the RPSL President’s Dinner. Many will use taxis, but unfortunately the nearest tube station at Bank is temporarily closed during February… A simple guide to travel has been created.

Visitor Suggestions
Many visitors to the exhibition will be accompanied by non-philatelic partners. With them in mind, a few suggestions have been made about what they may like to do during their stay.

‘Fit to Fly’ Certification for Return International Trips
Despite the significant improvement in the Covid situation, along with a reduction of bureaucracy by many countries, many international visitors will have to undergo Covid testing and certification ready for their return trip home. The London 2022 Organising Committee has recognised this challenge and has provided a certified testing facility at the BDC on Saturday 26 February to allow all commissioners and jurors to complete this task.
We are happy for any other visitors to use this service at cost price. If that date is not appropriate, then we can provide the details of other testing centers used by the company we have partnered with.
