| Additional Information: | We meet as a society at 19.30 on the first Tuesday of each month. Our venue is the Burton Library where there is ample parking and a warm welcome. Sometimes our activities are augmented with visits to other societies in the region or through informally arranged trips to stamp fairs around the country. The history of the society goes back some way. At one time, according to a local newspaper report of 1909, there was a Swadlincote Philatelic Society which included members from Burton. Later there was a Burton and Derby Society though as the society grew and became more Derby centred the 'Burton' was dropped. The current society was re-founded in 1957 and today is supported by a dwindling membership sadly but we make up for that bt being a group of very enthusiastic collectors who enjoy many convivial discussions after most meetings! Well it is the brewing capital of Britain! Why not come and join us. You'd be very welcome. |
