To me the Reading Room was a new experience. If there has been one before it has been much more hidden. London2022 came up with a good clear well-lit area with many books and magazines produced recently on an array of subjects – books on philately of Fiji to Macedonia, from Norway to Nigeria and journals and magazines from societies and publishers – Falkland Islands, Malaysia, Belgian study group and so on – commercial ones too of course. You could sit there and read in depth or do a quick scan. It was interesting to overhear (naughty me) a couple of judges discussing the appearance of a couple of books – use of space, pictures, font size and so on. Glad my magazine wasn’t there for discussion!
At one end of the space was the Stuart Rossiter Trust – interesting to talk to their people about how people approach them for help, the topics that they bring and so on – well worth a visit to all this space – and I still had time to go to view the postcard exhibits. Time for me to have another go – perhaps!
