Awards Ceremony
I have been receiving a few questions from around the world relating to the London 2022 Awards Ceremony. This event will be at the Old Library at Guildhall in the heart of London (https://www.guildhall.cityoflondon.gov.uk/) at 5.45pm on Friday 25 February 2022. At this event, the announcements of the winners of the Best in Class, Grands Prix and the World Stamp Championship Class will be made. As with all FIP exhibitions, Commissioners and Jurors will be receiving free tickets. There will be no Palmarès dinner at London 2022.
However, the Royal Philatelic Society London President’s dinner will be in the Great Hall at the same venue immediately following the awards. The Royal dinner will be a black-tie event, and visitors to London 2022 are welcome to apply for tickets.
Tickets are priced at £20 per person for the Awards Ceremony only, £135 for the President’s Dinner only, or £150 for a combined ticket. These can be purchased at https://members.rpsl.org.uk/shop.
Exhibits
Although the great majority of exhibits will be coming to London, there have inevitably been a small number of late withdrawals. This has allowed us to put all of the Youth Class in the first half. This change will make the jury’s task of selecting the Best in Class much easier. The exhibition’s website https://www.london2022.co/exhibits/ is kept fully up to date with any late changes.
Covid
Good news at last on Covid. The UK Government has changed the rules for travel to England with effect from 04:00 on 11 February 2022. If you are fully vaccinated, you will not need to take a test before or after you arrive and there will be no need to quarantine. But international visitors will need to complete a simplified passenger locator form before you travel. See https://www.london2022.co/covid/ for up-to-date detailed information and links to government websites.
Although there is still of course Covid in London, the rules about entering public places have now all been removed. England is now seeing a fall in the number of cases; at the time of writing this note the number of cases per head of population is lower than most other large European countries.
First Day Tickets
Entry to the exhibition is free on all days other than Saturday 19 February. Tickets for the first day can be purchased for £10 now at https://www.london2022.co/london-2022-first-day-entry-tickets/.
