The Friends of the BPMA will hold their Annual General Meeting at 3.00pm on 6th December 2013. This will be at the Phoenix Centre (adjacent to the BPMA in Phoenix Place, London WC1X 0DL).
Following the meeting Friends are invited to a viewing of the display “Off with her head” originally prepared by Senior Curator of Philately, Douglas Muir, for the ABPS meeting in Perth. This will be followed by a private viewing of the exhibition of photographs depicting the Mail Rail underground line which is currently on show in the BPMA search room. These will be presented by Chris Taft, Head of Collections.
Friends can then obtain refreshments from the Mount restaurant between 5 – 6 pm after which there will be two public talks from The BPMA team at the Phoenix Centre. Adrian Steele, the Director, will speak on “The Future of Britain’s Postal Heritage”. That is followed by a talk entitled “The Man with the Postbag is swearing in the corridor” by Tony Williams. This deals with Charles Dickens and Postal Communication.
