Material on sale will include Great Britain\, Commonwealth and Foreign stamps\, pages and collections\, together with some postal history. Dealers will also be interested to buy material to replenish their stocks\, especially if matching their specialities.\nThe Fair is organised by the Norfolk and Norwich Philatelic Society. Their members tables will add to the range of items on sale\, notably via a ‘private treaty’ table. Junior collectors and holidaymakers will be welcomed. DESCRIPTION:The Stuart Rossiter Memorial Lecture 2023 \n5.00 pm\, Wednesday 3rd May \nThe Stuart Rossiter Trust is pleased to announce that the 2023 Memorial Lecture will be held at 5.00pm on Wednesday 3rd May at the home of the Royal Philatelic Society London\, 15 Abchurch Lane\, London\, EC4N 7BW\, when Dieter Michelson FRPSL will give a talk entitled: What to Do and Not to Do: Participation at Philatelic Auctions \nFor over 100 years philatelic auctions have been a source for collectors to buy items for their collections and a platform for collectors to dispose of their holdings when they have made that decision. But still today many question marks exist for participants in philatelic auctions – both for buyers and consignors. This lecture will give the audience some more insight into the fascination of philatelic auctions and will give an update on recent developments. Questions from the floor will be more than welcome. \nDieter Michelson is Representative of the Royal Philatelic Society London in Germany\, Vice President of the German Consilium Philatelicum and former Vice President of the International Federation of Stamp Dealers’ Associations. As co-publisher of the book series EDITION D’OR and EDITION SPÉCIALE plus other book publications he initiated the publication of more than 100 books on philately in the past decades. SUMMARY:Stroud Five Valleys Stamp and Postcard Fair
DESCRIPTION:In April 2023 the Stroud and District Philatelic Society\, in conjunction with local history and postcard groups\, will be holding a local stamp and postcard fair\, in the newly-refurbished Three Storeys Exhibition Space (www.threestoreys.co.uk).\nThe rationale of the event is to:\n• link philately and postcard collecting with local history and interest\n• make the idea of stamps\, postcards and postal history as interesting as possible\n• reach out into our community\, including local groups and schools\n• make the event as varied and interesting as possible \nThe week of 18th–23rd April is a Tuesday to the following Sunday. From Tuesday 18th to Friday 21st there will be a standing exhibition alongside sales and activities\, the exhibition featuring famous stamps\, local postal history\, the relevance of stamps today\, and a ‘Me and My Stamps’ display by members of the society. Then from Friday to Sunday there will be a more intensive programme of talks and hands-on presentations. On offer during the event will be:\n• illustrated talks and presentations\n• stamp and postcard sales with a variety of dealers\n• write and stamp your own Penny Black letter\n• bring your stamps and postcards for our experts to look at and value\nWe believe this will be a landmark event\, introducing the relevance and importance of postal and postcard history to a wide audience with an interest in local history\, social developments\, family history and much more. We shall be making a big effort to publicise the event to as many people as possible\, both collectors and the general public.\nThe event is being co-ordinated by Stroud and District Philatelic Society\, and a more detailed programme of talks and presentations will be available nearer the time. \nIt will be open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
