Other Overseas Exhibitions

There's more than the United Kingdom to consider if you want to exhibit nationally. It's a world wide hobby and there are also specialist exhibitions to visit.

These include:

ECTP (European Championship for Thematic Philately), More Information can be found at FEPA News.

Further information on future ECTP competitions can be had from UK delegate to the FIP Commission for Thematic Philately (Christine A. Earle). See the British Thematic Association.

Exphimo is organised every year in Mondorf-les-Bains by the Federation of Luxembourg Philatelic Societies for thematic exhibits from European entrants in one or two different thematic categories each year by rotation.

Eurothema, organised every other year since 2001 each second year brings together thematic exhibitors from Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands together in a competitive challenge organised in turn by each country. The last was 2009 in Denmark.

Nordia takes place every year in a different Scandinavian country. In 2012 it is in Denmark at Roskilde from 2 - 3 November 2012

The Briefmarken Club Hannover von 1886 e.V. (BCH) is holding a bilateral Great Britain-Germany exhibition from 18-20 November 2011 to celebrate its 125th anniversary. ABPS along with RPSL, NPS, and Germany & Colonies PS have been invited to take part in the exhibition HABRIA 11 which has been designated as a Rang 1 exhibition by the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e.V. (Federation of German Philatelists).

200 frames have been set aside for British exhibits. Qualifications for exhibitors are either Vermeil or better at a German Rang 2 exhibition, Vermeil or better at Stampex or assessment by a panel of UK judges that the exhibit would be expected to achieve a Vermeil or better at Stampex. The date for the assessment is expected to be late February or March 2011 in London. The closing date for entries is 31 May 2011. Entries which achieve a Vermeil or better medal at HABRIA 11 will be qualified for international exhibitions so HABRIA 11 provides an additional opportunity for UK exhibitors to qualify for international exhibitions.

Conditions of participation and entry forms are available from Robin Pizer telephone 01730 893 856, email rpizer@pizer1.demon.co.uk

The American Philatelic Society holds more than 30 "national" exhibitions during each year ending up in true American fashion with the Champion of Champions at the end of every season. The biggest of these shows are probably NAPEX, Chicagopex and Westpex, expect a great welcome if you apply to exhibit, and see the APS website for further details.
